Legal support FOR ECONOMIC & SOCIAL JUSTICEIn pursuit of its ultimate objective to achieve structural changes in the economic system of our society, the Foundation also provides support to organizations and individuals who advocate for changes that may result in a more equitable distribution of resources and a fairer society. With this in mind, the Foundation has created a litigation fund to finance impact litigation when needed to advance important strategic issues. The objectives of this project are twofold: (1) to provide legal support to human rights advocates and social justice organizations: and (2). to provide a platform from which to train a new generation of people's lawyers.
We have invited allies in the legal profession to become the Foundation's partner in this project, where our allies provide the litigation teams and the Foundation provides funding for the costs that may need to be advanced during the litigation. The litigation teams shall consist of: (1) at least one attorney who is experienced in the relevant area of the law at issue; (2) at least one attorney who is relatively inexperienced in the area but would like to develop experience in it; and (3) at least one law student. This is in line with the training portion of this project. |
