THE LAW CENTER FOR ECONOMIC & SOCIAL JUSTICEIn pursuit of its ultimate mission to achieve a more fair society, the Foundation also funds and supports organizations and individuals engaged in activities that are likely to result in a more equitable distribution of resources. As a means to accomplish this, the Foundation has formed a joint venture with the Law Office of Saucedo and Fuentes to create the Law Center for Economic and Social Justice ("The Law Center").
The Law Center provides legal advice and other legal services that support activist who are engaged in the promotion of economic and social justice issues. To carry out its objectives, the Law Center harnesses the resources of grassroots community organizations, along with its own, to effectuate changes in the law that advance economic and/or social justice. Although it engages in litigation when necessary, its main focus is community-building through advice and counsel. |
THE WORK OF THIS CENTER CAN BE CATEGORIZED IN
Legal ServiceProvide legal services to the general public on a sliding fee-scale, implementing the following case-selection criteria:
1. Every case taken by the Center must have a significant social or economic justice component, such the Center's participation in the case contributes significantly towards advancing a social/economic justice issue. 2. The Center has attorneys with the required expertise available and willing to take the case. 3. The Center's staff has adequate time and resources available to handle the case effectively. |
PROVIDE LEGAL SUPPORTProvide pro-bono legal support to activists promoting economic or social justice issues.
HIGH-IMPACT LITIGATIONEngage in high-impact litigation to effect changes in the law that promote economic and/or social justice.
